Rock n Race

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Joe and I were asked to go and shoot some photos at Room680 for their Ferrari pre-race party.
It was a pretty good party, with a really nice vibe, and we also popped outside to get a few shots of the girl in a million dollar dress. The dress itself was made up of small diamond shaped sections of solid gold formed into a zig-zag pattern and interlinked into a designer dress more a work of art than everyday garment. Not everyone wants to wear a 7.5kg dress either :)

Happy Birthday Marcus

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

It seems to be a month of birthdays :)
This time it's the turn of Marcus, aka DJ Mudgutz. Joe and I went out to his place of work in the burbs (Seamus O'Toole's in Knox) to help celebrate his existence and to meet some of his friends, especially his girlfriend Sally, who is very nice :)
It's always a bit of fun with Marcus and this was no exception. The hangover at work the next day was a testament to how much fun we had :)

Wedding Jitters

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Leah and David asked us to shoot their wedding and we were somewhat nervous.
The shoot ended up going pretty well, although we made a few mistakes, we got the shots we needed and had a pretty good time. I must admit though, at the end of the day I was knackered from spending so much time looking through the viewfinder :)
Apart from that the wedding and reception were great, just a good simple ceremony in a very beautiful old Bendigo hotel and then out to the open spaces of the Bendigo Aero club for the reception. Pretty good party too :)

new heights

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

An old friend was in town for a week for work and invited a bunch of us up to his suite to have some dinner and catch up. His suite was on the 17th floor and had some magnificent views of the city and surrounds. Needless to say, I took a butt-load of photos :)

Lectro Labyrinth

The Goblin King
Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Another fantabulous Lectro party at Brown Alley, where Shez presents a crazy party of costumes and antics. You haven't lived until you've seen Chestwig and Grania dressed up as David Bowie (The Goblin King in the movie Labyrinth) and the head goblin, prancing around to 'Dance Music Dance' cheesy 80s classic :)
A real fun night, with a real fun crew.

Happy Birthday Kathryn

Happy Birthday Kathryn
Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Friday we went out to Room680 to celebrate Kathryn's birthday by seeing Jan Johnston perform. Jan is the first angel of trance music, with a truly beautiful voice, and we had actually seen her last time she was out here, which was also for Kathryn's birthday last year, so it seemed fitting to return again for her birthday this year.
Joe had to go home early because the music was so loud it was damaging his ears, but Kathryn and I stayed on until the early hours of the morning, listening to Jan sing a few times and generally just having a bit of a dance around :)
I was also shooting the event for inthemix.com.au and while I was there Nat from Room680 asked if they could also get a copy of my shots as the photographer they had hired hadn't shown up for some reason. This meant that they gave me access to some other areas of the club to try and get a better angle, and I think it helped me get some great shots. But this is a shot of Kathryn, it was her birthday after all :)

Kosheen

Sian
Originally uploaded by Scootie.

I had my first ever paid photo assignment, courtesy of Sara the photo editor for inthemix.com.au, who had been asked to provide a photographer for a product launch that evening, where Kosheen would be playing a set. The gig itself was pretty interesting, and I think I got what they were looking for, but I was just rapt to get to see Kosheen perform, especially to be able to get some shots of Sian belting out the tunes with her golden voice :)

Earthcore in the Park

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Another day in the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, but this time for Earthcore in the Park, same size crowd but a much more relaxed and enjoyable, not having to walk all over the hill for starters, and hanging out with Joe and Vanessa just mucking around all day. Good Stuff :)

Kiss my Grass

Local radio station KissFM held a fundraiser event at Sidney Myer Music bowl to help increase awareness of the station and raise some funds.
This event attracted pretty much every local DJ of any note and filled the bowl with thousands of people and a wide variety of music.
I had the official photo gig for ITM, and wore myself out marching up and down the hill what seemed like a million times, but it was all worth it to hear so much good music and photograph so many people having a great time in the sunshine :)

Technoir

Tronikelesch
Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Well, this is the first time i've been specifically requested to shoot a party, and I have to say, it was a pretty good party. Technoir at the Mercat Cross hotel, some of our old friends like Bubble 'n Squeak, Heath Myers and Elektra (my favourite electro dj, trying a techno set for the first time), and some new friends, Ranjit Nijer and Tronikelesch. Some very good music being played and some swish decor turned this 'favour' into a new compulsory event on the party calendar :)

Flickrmeet

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Yet another Flickrmeet with all the old cronies and some very special guests indeed. Shooz and jrg_ were in town from the UK and wanted to meet some local flickrenos, so we organised a meet.

Also in attendance were new faces snork maiden, knicole7, and barrybear, and despite barry (picture above with joe) losing an ear in the proceedings, it was a great day :)

Happy Birthday EJ!

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

And while we were travelling through drunkenness after the Screw you Alive party we stopped into Bridie O'Reilly's in Brunswick for Erin-Jade's birthday.

We were drunk, they were drunk, we nearly got thrown out for taking photos, then we left and went back to the Screw you Alive afterparty :)

Screw you Alive!

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

What a momentous occasion, the combination of the Screw crew parties and the aLive crew parties, Screw7 & aLive7 joined into one event, crazy electro/tech upstairs and live creations downstairs, all on a boat steaming around the bay.

What a fantastic party. Both of these crews know how to throw a good party, and together they managed to throw a phenomenal party. The best party I have ever been to, ever. period.

There's something pretty special about drinking vodka all afternoon, dancing to some of the best music , on a moving floor, using the motion of the boat to add to your moves, watching the sun go down over the ocean and just plain hanging out with a damn good bunch of people.

Sean's Wedding

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

Joe and I shot our first wedding today. A friend from work was having a small registry office ceremony on the weekend and he asked if we'd mind coming along and getting a few snaps. We were more than happy to oblige since Sean is a good bloke, and we also needed a little practice for a wedding we'd been asked to shoot later in the month.

Shopgirl

Originally uploaded by Scootie.

We went to another session of Moonlight Cinema, this time for Leah's birthday. We had a good time, mucking around as usual, but I have to say, don't ever go there if you haven't seen the movie. We went to see Shopgirl, which I hadn't seen before, and it was really annoying because you can almost never see the whole screen, and everyone around you talks and laughs and it just gets too annoying :)
Lovely night though, and it's always nice to see the city skyline at dusk and enjoy one of the last warm spring evenings.
